How to pack and ship your frame

1. Remove before you pack

• Derailleurs (front and rear) and derailleur hanger, if bolt-on
• Wheels, pedals, seatpost and saddle
• Bottle cages, computer mounts, lights and bags
• Bottom bracket and headset, if you're comfortable removing them — otherwise leave in place

2. Protect the frame

• Wrap the frame in bubble wrap or foam pipe insulation at every tube
• Pay extra attention to the damaged area — add a second layer there
• Use a fork protector or brace, or wrap the fork ends and axle securely
• Tape wrap seams so padding can't shift in transit

3. Box it

• Use a rigid bike box (bike shops usually have spares) — not a soft bag alone
• Fill any empty space with packing paper or foam so nothing can shift
• Brace the frame so it can't slide corner-to-corner inside the box
• Tape all seams with strong packing tape, not masking or duct tape

4. Insurance & documentation

• Insure the shipment for the frame's replacement value, not just what you paid
• Photograph the frame and the packed box before you seal it
• Keep your tracking number and receipt until the repair is complete
• Include a note inside the box with your name and the tracking code we gave you
